May 29, 2008. Irving, Texas. The Catholic Foundation awarded Mrs.
Lauraine Oberfelder, the academic coordinator at The Highlands School,
the Work of Heart award this month. Mrs. Oberfelder has
been working at The Highlands for 14 years, and has
had two of her own children graduate from The Highlands.
“My
thanks to the generosity of the donor family and the
Catholic Foundation and whoever it was that nominated me too!
The best gift is working every day with my colleagues
and all of the students and parents that form this
incredible Catholic community,” she said.
The Catholic Foundation’s Work of Heart
program searches for the “unsung heroes who go the extra
mile” in serving the educational community and its members.
The
criteria for the award include: additional merit including tenure and
leadership, enthusiastic instruction, individual unexpected acts of kindness or charity,
Christian example, mentoring, and going the extra mile for an
individual student, family, or the community.
A gift of $500 accompanies
the award.
