June 9, 2008. San Jose, CA. Canyon Heights Academy
was voted Best Private School in the Silicon Valley for
2008 in the annual poll organized by the magazine Bay Area Parent. The winning school selected as the “Best
of the Best” has been Canyon Heights for the past
three years. Three-time winners of the award are admitted to
the Bay Area Parent “Hall of Fame.”
The school also won
two additional prizes for Best Preschool and Best Martial Arts
Program.
To win these prizes, Canyon Heights competed with over 80
other private schools in the Silicon Valley. Canyon Heights is
also the only Catholic school in the diocese that has

ever won this award.
Stephanie Parker, the Recruiting Director for Canyon
Heights, said that the award is a strong vote of
confidence from the parents and families who have their children
enrolled at the school. “It reflects our families’ commitment to
the mission of the school,” she said. “We have families
who are so excited about what we’re doing at Canyon
Heights that they spread the word to get the vote.”
Surprised by Joy
Where does that commitment come from? Parker says
that it starts when they first meet the Canyon Heights
community.
“The majority of our families are from a more

secular background,” she said, “and they see a joy in
our community that they don’t see anywhere else. They might
not realize it at first, but it’s Christ.”
“We give
families hope,” she said. “Most people who enroll their children
at Canyon Heights hear something good about the school—its academics,
its gender-specific education, the great community... But the best thing
about it is that it ends up changing their whole
family for the better.”
