“Seeing such a significant ground swell reinforced my hope that the work the Holy Spirit began in JPII would continue."

These are the worlds of Sister Bernadette Pike, M.G., who was privileged to participate in the recent beatification Mass in Rome for the late Pope John Paul II. Before an audience exceeding one million, and with millions more following by way of television and computer, Sr. Bernadette flawlessly delivered the second reading (1 Peter 1:3-9). 

A native of Perth, Australia, Sister Bernadette is the foundress of the Missionaries of the Gospel (www.mg.org.au), a new religious order inspired by the charism and spirituality of Blessed John Paul II. 

She is also a first-year student at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS). IPS is a Catholic graduate school of psychology whose teachings have been greatly informed and enhanced by the teachings of John Paul II.  IPS offers Master and Doctoral Degrees of Clinical Psychology, and a Master of General Psychology Degree, and trains its students to use the best scientific and therapeutic methods of psychology infused by a Catholic understanding of the human person, marriage and family.

do a reading at the Beatification of JPII,” said Sr. Bernadette. “It was also an honor to represent Australia and the JPII Sisters.  As I looked into the crowd, I thought, ‘Wow, there are so many other people who were touched by Christ through JPII...so many people who are probably already living some aspect of his charism within the Church.’”
