Food shortages afflict many African peoples. This accounts for the high percentage of infant and child mortality. One small effort to alleviate this problem is Operation Chiwamba, which chose the city of Chiwamba, Malawi, a small country in southeastern Africa, as the destination for funds raised in Europe. Young people of the Regnum Christi Movement coordinate this program which supports St. Mary´s Rehabilitation Center operated by the Missionaries of Mary the Mediatrix in Chiwamba.
