December 14, 2009. Facing the problem of poverty and underdevelopment
in third world countries is like tackling a Goliath of
unimaginable proportions. The needs are so vast and in some
cases so extreme that no one program could possibly cover
them all. Intelligent strategies and teamwork between institutions are essential
even to make a dent.
The Altius Foundation, which coordinates the
Legion’s service to the poor, takes a multi-pronged approach to
breaking the cycle of poverty, with educational, health, and development
programs that help people to gain the skills and capacities
they need to build a better future.
At the same time,
Altius teams up with other international aid associations, sharing tools,
resources, and funds to make a stronger impact together.
