The Regnum Christi Movement leaders celebrate the anniversary of our foundation with a mass Celebrated in the private chapel of the Archbishop of Manila, Msgr. Gaudencio Rosales.

Manila, Philippines – Regnum Christi members in the Philippines were blessed to begin the year 2006 much as they did the previous two years: at mass in the private chapel of Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales.

After the Mass, Regnum Christi members shared with the Archbishop the fruits of their efforts for the Filipino Church.  A representative thanked Archbishop Rosales for his constant support and renewed the unconditional commitment of Regnum Christi to serve the local Church as he and other pastors direct. Archbishop Rosales responded by giving his blessing to the Regnum Christi members.

Among the fruits from 2005 were several missions that Regnum Christi organized throughout the year:

• In January, the young men of Regnum Christi organized 50 missionaries who went among the poor squatters in an area known as Libis. They visited 200 families in door-to-door evangelization and gave catechism lessons to a large group of children – so large it was difficult to estimate how many they were.
• In February, on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, they launched the first Helping Hands Medical Missions in the Philippines. Fourteen medical volunteers from the United States, including seven physicians, spent a week working for free in the city of

  	Youth for the Third Millennium missionaries visited two squatter areas, one over the Manila.

  Tanauan. Over the course of an entire week, they provided surgeries, clinical consultations and medicines – all at no cost. The doctors performed 25 operations under the guidance of Our Lady of Lourdes with no post-operative complications. All operations were 100% successful! Fr. Andrew Mulcahey L.C. came from Dallas to celebrate masses and hear confessions.  The Regnum Christi team from Makati organized all logistics and fundraising.
• In March, during Holy Week, the youth teams organized what they called the “Extreme Mission” because it was done in an Island without water and electricity. Travel was only by boat or on foot. They visited seven communities in the Island of Maricaban – also known as Tingloy. In a non stop door-to-door evangelization for five consecutive days during Holy Week, the 72 missionaries visited some 300 families and more than 500 children received daily catechesis. Fr. Daniel Polzer L.C. traveled from Denver to help in the “Extreme Mission.” In these exceptional circumstances he celebrated three masses each day, heard confessions and led the rites proper to Holy Week. In this way the parish priest of Tingloy was free to attend the town proper while Father Polzer and the missionaries reached those who live far from the main Church, especially the elderly and the sick.
• In August, a Regnum Christi program entitled Living Dreams organized a full day outreach for orphans. 120 orphans from Tiloy Dom Bosco were the program’s guests for a day trip to Enchanted Kingdom for food and lots of fun. Each orphan had the individual attention of one volunteer; the goal was to transmit to each one the personal love that Jesus gives each of us. In all, 140 volunteers participated.
• In September, twelve Youth for the Third Millennium missionaries visited two squatter areas, one over the Manila railways and another near

  	The youth teams organized what they called the “Extreme Mission” because it was done in an Island without water and electricity.

  St. Perpetua Parish in Quezon City. A total of 52 missionaries visited 220 poor families and taught the catechism to hundreds of children. Holy Mass was celebrated in a street adjacent to the Manila railways.
• In October, Youth for the Third Millennium brought 30 missionaries and one Legionary Priest (Fr. Daniel Polzer) to three sites in Barangay Luyos. To celebrate the end of the Year of the Eucharist, the mission included a procession with the Holy Sacrament led by His Excellency, Archbishop Arguelles. The procession was so popular the people of Ambulong begged to have one as well, so Fr. Polzer led another Eucharistic procession there.
• In December, Living Dreams organized a Christmas party for poor children.
