April 4, 2009. Spanish-speakers going on missions this Holy Week
have outstanding resources at their fingertips on the www.demisiones.com
web site, the Spanish-language version of the MissionYouth web site.
Although specifically designed for missionaries heading out into the field,
these videos can also be used by people who will
be living Holy Week at home, and freely shared with
Spanish-speakers who are looking for something more to draw them
closer to Christ. In fact, sharing them is a form
of missionary work in itself.
The web site has two sets
of videos—one offering spiritual meditations on the meaning of each
day, and the other offering practical guidance to missionaries out
in the field.
For Meditation
The first set of 5-minute
videos covers the spiritual meaning of each day of Holy
Week, from Palm Sunday to Holy Saturday. Each of the
6 videos features a Legionary priest giving spiritual guidance on
how to live that particular day prayerfully and fruitfully, in
light of the daily liturgy.
The featured Legionaries are Father Jesús
Blázquez, Miguel Romeo, and Ignacio Camarena, LC.
The videos can
be viewed in high or low resolution, downloaded as an
MP3 audio file, viewed as an iPod video, or linked

to your YouTube channel.
For Action
The second set of videos
offers missionaries practical guidelines for each day of Holy Week.
Aimed specifically at the youth and families who will be
evangelizing during Holy Week, the videos explain the contents of
the missionary kit, and then give specific guidelines for the
missionaries for each day of the week.
The videos are
full of real footage from missions in Mexico, showing the
live stations of the cross on Good Friday, the Easter
Vigil Mass, and more. Even for those who are not
going on missions this year, they can be a useful
spiritual resource to live the holiest days of the year
united to Christ and to the universal Church.
