Los Angeles, CA. April 27, 2009. Tears, silence, applause, and
rejoicing… these were the reactions of the crowd at the
Christ Is Alive presentation that took place from March 20-22
at the Expo Center in Industry Hills, CA. The music
and drama enactment, presented by Hombre Nuevo and
Guadalupe Radio, was based on the theme
“Grieve His Passion, Live His Victory!”
About 9,000 people attended
the presentations, which were offered on Good Friday, Holy Saturday,
and Easter Sunday. As actors told the story of various
scenes in Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection, the Hombre Nuevo
choir participated, performing a special interpretation of Psalm 8. The
song was written especially for Christ Is Alive.
This year’s presentation,
which is the 15th annual enactment, involved 120 actors. This
year’s work also included new scenes and incorporated more music
and ballet. The Hombre Nuevo staff supported the event by
welcoming the guests, serving lunch, managing the mobile shop, and
promoting Hombre Nuevo and Guadalupe Radio.
Legionary priests were also
on hand to hear confessions and to offer spiritual support

to the people attending the presentation.
Pilar Segovia, now an
Hombre Nuevo volunteer, first got involved with the ministry by
attending a Christ Is Alive event 9 years ago.
“We
all loved it,” she said.
After attending her first Christ
Is Alive event, she began to get involved in helping
out with small tasks, growing spiritually along the way. Eventually,
her children also got involved.
“My kids started to help
out in Christ Is Alive and they loved assembling the
scenarios. I learned to serve in the events and got
involved in promoting the event,” she said.
“Hombre Nuevo and
Guadalupe Radio are daily vitamin now. Although I can’t always
listen to all of the programs, there is always something
helpful that I get out of it for the day.
Timewise, it’s not easy to help out, but I know
that my grain of sand is added to many others,
and that God abundantly blesses that act of generosity.”
