September 15, 2009. Cheshire, CT. The Legionaries of Christ at
the novitiate and center for humanities in Cheshire, CT, have
recorded another CD of songs, this time in honor of
Christ in the Eucharist. (The first CD of Christmas songs,
“Tidings of Joy,” is also available from Circle Press.)
of Angels: Hymns to Christ in the Eucharist,” on sale
for $15 through Circle Press, is a practical way for
the Legionary brothers to promote the Eucharist during the Year
for Priests while also raising funds to support the formation
of future priests.

composition by Camille Saint-Saëns, click here.
About half of the
27 tracks are Gregorian chant hymns; the others are polyphonic
compositions in various languages. Songs in Latin include the famous
“Sicut Cervus” by Palestrina and “Ave Verum” by Mozart, among
others. There are four hymns in English, two in Italian,
and one in Spanish. English translations for all songs are
provided in the accompanying CD booklet.
Italian priest and composer Monsignor Marco Frisina (director of the Liturgical Office of the
Vicariate in Rome and director of the Pontificia Cappella Musicale
Lateranense), also granted his permission for the brothers to reproduce
three of his original compositions on the CD.

whose voices you will hear on the CD are 24
Legionaries from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Germany,
France, and Hungary. The choir director, Fr Andreas Kramarz, is
from Germany. Br Marcello Bressan, from Argentina, did the graphic
design of the CD cover and booklet.
“With this CD,”
says Fr Andreas Kramarz, “one can participate in the vocal
praise of God in our Legionary community in Cheshire.” He
also notes that the CD ends with the same exposition
and benediction hymns that are sung every Thursday to open
and close the weekly Eucharistic Hour.
