Women of Faith at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

March 21, 2011. Los Angeles, CA. Over 20,000 women attended the Women of Faith Congress at the Los Angeles Sports Arena this past February 5th and 6th. The Congress, organized with the help of over 400 Hombre Nuevo and Guadalupe Radio volunteers, was based on the theme: “Woman, your faith will move mountains.”

Some of the speakers at the event included Fr Juan Rivas, LC, on “A Woman Who Moves Mountains”; Fr Antonio Rivero, LC, on “Woman of Faith, Dare to Live the Commandments at Home”; Fr Chelo, who spoke on “Courage, Woman: Jesus Came to Save You”; and Dr Cesar Lozano, who spoke on “Difficult Women, Complicated Men.” In addition, the journalist and author Maria Antonieta Collins spoke about courage and self-improvement to the crowd of women at the event.

The musicians Gela and Priscila shared their testimonies and talents, which they use to evangelize. There were opportunities for personal counseling and sacramental confession, and the event also included Mass and Eucharistic adoration, which was enlivened by the “Orquestra Renacer” (Rebirth Choir), which accompanies Fr Chelo to different events, bringing a message of healing and conversion.

Just as Moses’ face shone after his mountaintop experience with God, some women left the congress with their own particular glow. One woman said that she went to a store after the congress and the sales clerk who rang up her purchases said that she looked very happy and full of peace. The woman explained that she had just been in a meeting with God. The sales clerk said, “Well, give me that God’s phone number because I want to have that peace, too.”
