Ivory Coast, October 14, 2008. From July 31 to August
21, a team of French youth, all Regnum Christi members,
carried out evangelization missions with the French branch of Mission Youth (Jeunesse Missionnaire) in the Ivory Coast. They visited
the cities of Abiyán, Yamusukro, and various towns in the
northern zone of the country.
The missionaries went door-to-door and
organized activities for youth and children. They also visited an
orphanage and some hospitals, one of them for AIDS patients.
The people welcomed them with great hospitality and joy.
Besides the
work of evangelization in various places and parishes, they also
supported the recent foundation of the Regnum Christi Movement in
the Ivory Coast. With the help of the missionaries, Fr
Gonzalo Monzón, LC, gave a series of talks on the
charism and apostolates of the Legion of Christ and Regnum
Christi, as well as a retreat for renewals and incorporations
into the Movement. The group also visited Bishop Jean-Pierre Kutwa,
the archbishop of Abiján.
The missionaries took advantage of their days
in the Ivory Coast to visit the shrine of Notre
Dame de la Paix (Our Lady of Peace) in Yamusukro,
as well as other places of cultural interest in the
south and center of the country.
