February 12, 2010. Wakefield, RI. During this Year for Priests,
there is a great need to support the Holy Father
and pray for vocations. Ancora, an international girls’ club,
has been doing just that since it was founded in
2001 by the students at Immaculate Conception Academy in Wakefield,
RI.
Ancora’s stated mission is to “respond to the call
of Christ by committing to support the Holy Father and
vocations […] through prayer and apostolic action.” Now, a new
Ancora web site provides girls with tools and information to
live out their goal of prayer and support for vocations.
Web
site tour
The web site is structured into several main categories:
• Christ
• The Pope
• The Church
• Get Anchored
• Photo Gallery
• Contact Us
The purpose of the “Christ” section is to help
members “find ways to grow closer to Christ” with prayer
resources and an encouragement to undertake Eucharistic adoration. The “Christ”

his recent writings and speeches, “fun facts,” and a “Pope
quote” for the day.
The “Church” tab offers a link
to ZENIT News, apologetics trivia, and a brief paragraph of
liturgical guidance, as well as a sidebar of Church news
pertaining to prayer for vocations.
Finally, the Get Anchored section explains
how girls can become members and gives information about the
