The LTP participants had an intense five days in Washington, DC.

Washington, DC. July 7, 2010. This past June 20 to 25, the 10th annual Leadership Training Program (LTP) Internship Course gathered a group of 14 young men for a mix of seminars, visits, prayer, and fun.

Most of the boys were high school students from the DC area, with one from California. In the evenings, they were joined by college students, most former LTP participants, from Princeton, Notre Dame, the University of Virginia, and the Naval Academy.

The boys’ day started off with morning prayers, meditation, breakfast, and was followed by an entire day of meetings with various political figures and business leaders from a wide range of industries. The boys asked them about their profession, and especially about how they brought their faith and values to bear on their work.

Some of the politicians the boys visited included Congressman Devin Nunes (California), Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (Florida), Senator John McCain (Arizona), and Yao Charles Koffi, the Ivory Coast’s Ambassador to the US.

Business leaders included Juan Jose Daboub, managing director of the World Bank; Jim Clifton from Gallup Poll; Shawn Smeallie from American Continental Group; Jerry Seib, the WSJ Washington Bureau Chief; and Dan D’Aniello, of The Carlyle Group.

Sliney, LC, the course helped the boys “see the importance of moral integrity and spirituality in becoming great leaders.” 

During the course of each day, the boys also had daily Mass and Rosary, plus some opportunities for fun and relaxation, with a Nationals game, a pool party and barbecue, and some time for soccer and basketball games.
