Soñar Despierto (To dream while awake) organizes its first activity in Ireland helping children have a very memorable day.
These Irish young people experienced the joy of making others happy.
Soñar Despierto (To dream while awake) in Dublin (Ireland) organized
an apostolic activity entitled Angel for a Day December 1st
and it was an outstanding success. More than fifty young
men and women helped less fortunate children from the orphanages
of the Missionaries of Charity and of the community of
Saint Vincent de Paul have one of the best Christmases
ever.
The Little Sisters of the Poor hosted the event
at their Dublin home. The children had a wonderful time
as they enjoyed the presence of a clown, a band,
games with the young volunteers, candy and friendship. The volunteers
did all they could so that these children could not
only have fun but also learn the real meaning of
Christmas, teaching them Jesus loves them so much he became
a child just like them.
Some of the volunteers
put on a Christmas play, bringing to life the great
feast of our Lord´s birth. One of the greatest surprises
for the children came when some of their dreams came
true. About a month earlier
The young people put on a play to convey the message of Jesus' birth.
they were asked to write
down what they wanted for Christmas. The volunteers set out
looking for generous benefactors who could get the children their
gifts. Santa Claus came to visit the children and he
gave them what they had asked for. The surprise and
the joy on their faces was truly moving.
The young
volunteers came away having experienced more profoundly the phrase that
isn´t always so easy to believe: "There is more joy
in giving than in receiving."
