| The presence of the Legion of Christ in Austria dates back to 1998. The Legionaries’ presence there has allowed them to foster and support the first groups of Regnum Christi members in this country. |

The Legion of Christ has been present in Austria since
the autumn of 1998 with a community based in the
capital city of Vienna.
Currently, the work of the
Legion is centered on the cities of Vienna and Salzburg.
The primary work of the Legionaries of Christ and Regnum
Christi in Austria consists of assisting the various NET teams
and launching ECYD youth clubs. There are NET groups operating
in the dioceses of Vienna, Salzburg, and Linz and there
are ECYD clubs in Vienna and Salzburg.
The
Legion also offers a variety of open activities, such as
monthly retreats and spiritual exercises for men, women, youth, and
diocesan priests. It also offers a weekly seminar called "Back
to Basics", which is a catechism course covering the fundamentals
of the faith, all held at the Regnum Christi center
in Vienna. Other seminars on topics such as prayer, or
the "theology of the body" of John Paul II are
held at this facility as well.
During the summer
months, there are camps at Salzburger Land and at a
location north of Linz. Catholic Media and CIF, apostolates that
coordinate the distribution of the Legion’s publications in German, are
both located in Vienna.
