| The Legion of Christ began to work apostolically in Venezuela in 1983. Today there is a large group of priests and religious who help the lay people direct many works of apostolate in various fields. |

After many years of waiting, the first house of the
Legionaries of Christ was founded in Caracas, Venezuela on September
14, 1983. Three years later, in 1986, the Legion opened the
Cumbres Institute of Caracas in the zone of Santa Paula,
a Catholic and bilingual school that would offer an integral
formation to its students.
The groups of youth and
adults of Regnum Christi also grew very quickly and
some apostolates took off with great strength. The women’s section
of the Movement launched the apostolates of ANSPAC or
Pro-superación.
In June of 1992, the first Regnum Christi
consecrated women arrived to found a girls’ school and to
direct the girls and young women’s sections.The Instituto Andes
de Caracas currently has over 1,300 students in preschool, primary
school, and secondary school.
In the year 1990, they
launched the project of the first Instituto Mano Amiga (Mano
Amiga School) in the zone of Fila de Mariches, in
the state of Miranda. In October of 2004, the second
Mano Amiga institute was opened in the zone of Fila
de Turgua. The two schools care for a total of
1,500 students from underprivileged backgrounds. By now, two classes of
over 100 students have graduated, and most continue their university
studies with success and positive recognition for their achievements.
In the year 1999, the Legion founded an apostolic school
in Barquisimeto, in the state of Lara. The center currently
has 85 students from various regions of the country who
complete their high school requirements there while discerning their vocation
to the priesthood.
The Legion of Christ works actively
in the cities of Caracas, Valencia, Barquisimeto, Mérida, Acarigua, San
Cristóbal, Maracaibo, Carora, Isla de Margarita, and others.
The
Legionary priests and religious present in the country, together with
the lay people, direct the various apostolates such as: ANSPAC, Familia y Juventud Misionera, Evangelizadores de Tiempo
Completo, OAK International, Familia Venezolana (FAVE), Escuela de
la Fe, Alfa & Omega, Soñar Despierto, NET,
the lay sections of the Movement, ECYD (Education, Culture, and
Youth Development) and the Red de Clubes juveniles (CYWN
Catholic Youth World Network) which has clubs in Caracas, Mérida,
San Cristóbal, Barquisimeto, Maracaibo, Acarigua, and Valera.
