Phase 4: International Convention

Three Meetings In Three Weeks

In March and April of 2018, delegates from all of the territories, and from each branch, will gather in Rome for three different events that will take place over the course of about three and a half weeks : 1) the General Chapter of the Legionaries of Christ (March 26 – April 7, 2018), 2) the General Assembly of the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi (March 26 – April 7, 2018), and 3) the Joint General Assembly of the Regnum Christi Movement (April 9 – 18, 2018).

The third assembly (the Joint General Assembly of the Regnum Christi Movement) is the first time that all branches will come together from all territories, around the world, to participate in this process together.  The Joint General Assembly of the Regnum Christi Movement will be done in two parts: part 1 will be April 9-18, 2018 and part 2 is planned for November of 2018. The delegates from the North American Territory going to Rome represent the Movement in the North American territory and so the same is true for each territory throughout the world. Phase 3: Territorial Assemblies

2nd Draft of Statutes Released

I would like to present to you the second draft of the Statutes of the Regnum Christi Movement, which will serve as the text to be considered by the general chapter and general assemblies of 2018 which will take place in Rome in Phase 4 of this process. Fr. Eduardo Robles-Gil, LC, said “It has been prepared in light of the contributions collected during the territorial assemblies and the instructions received by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. The reasons behind the most important changes to the Draft General Statutes text are laid out in the introduction.”

What Does It Mean?

Fr. Eduardo Robles-Gill, LC, explains the most recent developments effecting the canonical configuration of the Regnum Christi Movement, the identity and the statutes.

Panel Discussion June 4, 2017

On June 4th, 2017, a wide ranging 90-minute conference was live-streamed across the globe on Pentecost Sunday. The General Directors of the Legionaries of Christ, Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi and the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi were accompanied by members of the General Renewal Commission on a panel (live from Rome) where they answered questions regarding the new draft of the General Statutes of Regnum Christi

Fr. John Bartunek, LC, moderated the event which included questions that he had asked the speakers to prepare answers for, as well as live questions from the audience of legionaries and consecrated members present, and those sent through ‘What’s App’ by some of the Movement’s lay members from around the world.

The draft general statutes of Regnum Christi propose the organization of the different branches, of the Regnum Christi Movement, into a canonical configuration called a ‘federation’. When asked about why this structure was proposed, Fr Eduardo Robles-Gil, LC, answered, “It’s the canonical form with the most flexibility for our needs. When the Movement began it was something simple and spontaneous, but now we have grown, and it is not enough to be simple and spontaneous in living our Mission. The Church needs us to be organized.”

Introducing Chapter Seven

In late 2015, Fr. Sylvester Heereman, LC, introduced chapter seven to us.  He, in brief, outlined the options for juridical status for the lay members, consequences of the options, and the criteria for discernment.

Phase 2: Group Discernment

A 5 Step Guide For The Process

To more fully understand the group discernment phase (Phase 2) we’ve included this brief overview of the five steps of this process: 1) group discernment, 2) online registration, 3) online voting, 4) voting results, 5) preparing for Phase 3 (the Territorial Assemblies).

PHASE 1

Preparing To Begin Phase 2

In Atlanta (October 2014) Fr. Sylvester Heereman, LC, addressed lay members of Regnum Christi.  He started his presentation by  explaining “the goal of this process is to draft an updated edition of the statutes of Regnum Christi and present this draft to the Holy See for approval so as to express, protect, and promote the Charism of Regnum Christi. In this short 43 minute recording of the presentation Fr. Sylvester tackles this goal in two parts, first by explaining the purpose of this process and second by explaining the plan for the process.

The life, spirituality and mission of the lay members of Regnum Christi are explained in a section of the current Statutes of Regnum Christi, which were already approved by the Holy See and remain in force.  However, throughout the different phases of this process lay members of Regnum Christi will have the opportunity to contribute in preparing revisions to the sections of the current Statutes of Regnum Christi regarding the life, spirituality and mission of lay members that will be presented, as a proposed new draft for approval, to the Holy See, “as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
