About 200 bishops, priests and lay leaders from different Catholic groups attended the annual USCCB Pro-Life Leadership Mass on Thursday, January 18th, at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America in Washington, D.C. The annual Pro-Life Leadership Mass is intended as a time that enables Catholic leaders who work to advance the culture of life to join in prayer and fellowship. It was held on the first day of the 9 Days for Life Novena, promoted by the USCCB.
Daniel Cardinal DiNardo of Houston, Texas, president of the USCCB, presided at the Mass and enthusiastically encouraged Catholic leaders to continue to bring the message of the dignity of all human beings, made in the image and likeness of God, to their evangelization efforts. Stating that joy was always found in the presence of Christ, he reminded the participants that Christ is now present among those who work in pro-life ministry and that He will also be present at the March for Life, “Jesus is the bridegroom of life. He refashions us without tearing us apart. Don’t ever forget that.”
Fr. John Connor, LC, Territorial Director of the Regnum Christi Movement, con-celebrated the Mass with several other priests and bishops from around the United States. The Regnum Christi Movement and several of its schools and youth groups are present at the 2018 March for Life which will take place on Friday March 19th at 1:00pm. Following the Mass, Fr. Connor discussed the importance of upholding the dignity of the human person and the right to life in all of the formation and apostolic works of the Regnum Christi movement. He shared his reflections on the importance of sharing the pro-life message in a video message.
