XVIII. FIRST SATURDAYS

The custom of honoring Mary in a special way on the first Saturday of the month is closely related to the first Friday observance and follows the same spirit of reparation for one’s own sins and the sins of the whole world. It is a day to contemplate her fidelity to the will of God and to pay her filial homage.

In keeping with the Blessed Virgin’s wishes, confession and Communion on these days, along with fifteen minutes of contemplation of the mysteries of the Rosary, should strengthen our determination to fulfill God’s will faithfully and renew our love for Mary and our desire to imitate her admirable cooperation with the redemptive work of her son.
