The Second Annual Plenary Meeting of the Regnum Christi Movement begins in Rome

June 28, 2016 – The 2nd plenary meeting of Regnum Christi began today in Rome, as outlined in provided for in the Framework for collaboration which was implemented in 2014. Work began after a concelebrated Mass presided over by Father Eduardo Robles-Gil.

In these annual meetings, the governments of the Legion of Christ, Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi and Lay Consecrated Men, as well as some representatives of lay members come together to discuss the interests of the Movement as a whole.

The goal of this week’s meetings is to reach greater clarity on the process for the development of the General Statutes of the Regnum Christi Movement. The discussions will take into consideration the observations of the General Chapter of the Legion of Christ, and of the general assemblies of the consecrated members, as well as the conclusions of the International Convention of the laity. The general governments and lay members present are studying a working document prepared by the Central Commission and then working together to share their thoughts and conclusions.

The program includes dialogue with other Movements and ecclesial realities in the Church that have similar experiences of a shared charism among different states in life. Representatives for these discussions will include participants from the Family of St. Leonardo de Murialdo, the superior general of the Pallottines, the president of Verbum Dei, and members of Focolare.

Fr. Gianfranco Ghirlanda SJ, Pontifical assistant is also participating in the meetings.
